Guest sentiment
A snapshot of what local diners frequently mention about this location.
"One of the most beautiful restaurants I've ever been to. It's pricey, though, above average. They have local beer, which I really love and appreciate. Unfortunately, it was average in taste. The food was interesting and varied, mostly national dishes and meat dishes. We enjoyed it. The bread soup is especially good. We celebrated my girlfriend's birthday; we ordered three courses for two, two beers, and a wine, for a total of €60+. Our waiter also gave us a nice birthday surprise: two glasses of sparkling wine. Despite the price, this place is a must-visit."
"First of all, we made a reservation a few days in advance in order to sit on the balcony. Finding a reservation—especially on the balcony and after 7:00 PM—is quite difficult, as the traditional dance show starts at 7:30 PM. Unfortunately, we couldn’t catch the show, but the atmosphere was wonderful. The waiters and all the staff were very polite. Andreea took care of us, and she was extremely kind and attentive. As for the food, we started with the pumpkin soup. It was good, but if I go again, I probably wouldn’t choose it. For the main course, we ordered the mixed grill, which was more than sufficient for two people. It included two different sausages, two mici, one piece of chicken breast, and one piece of pork. My favorites were the cheese-filled sausage and the mici. We also tried their traditional drink. For dessert, we chose sour cherry sauce and blueberry sauce—the blueberry one was my favorite. Overall, we left very happy and satisfied."
"There was a plethora of options and everything we tried was more than pleasing! Local dishes as well as options for the more picky. The atmosphere and the service from Andreea was delightful! Worth a visit but make sure you make a reservation"
"That was the best place to eat real, authentic Romanian food. And the place where u eat… it was extraordinary. The Minci dish was so delicious, it was so juicy, I can totally recommend it for u. The staff was professional and smiling whole time, they were even ready for some joking. Very good approach to the customer."
"We had dinner at this restaurant. We did not have a reservation, but was seated quickly since we were there quite early. The place looks like an amazing old church. The ambiance feels historic. The food was delicious! the pork knuckle was huge and succulent. The fish, the traditional dishes were all good. The drinks were also perfect. Overall a great place to be with friends or family for the vibes, food and drinks."
"I had a wonderful experience at Caru' cu Bere. The cuisine is authentic, rich in tradition, and full of original flavors. Every dish was beautifully prepared and packed with taste — you can truly feel the passion behind the recipes. The menu offers a great variety of Romanian specialties, each one more delicious than the last. One of the highlights of my meal was the roasted lamb shank served with creamy mashed potatoes and fresh vegetables. The meat was incredibly tender, perfectly cooked, and full of deep, rich flavor. It practically fell off the bone and paired beautifully with the smooth, buttery mash. The combination of textures and flavors made this dish absolutely unforgettable. The atmosphere is warm and lively, which makes the whole experience even more memorable. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking to discover genuine, flavorful Romanian cuisine in a charming setting."
"Caru’ cu Bere is a fantastic choice for dinner right in the heart of Bucharest. The menu offers a wide variety of meat dishes, all well prepared and full of flavor, perfectly complemented by an impressive selection of wines to suit different tastes. What truly sets this place apart is its traditional Romanian ambience—beautiful historic interiors, lively atmosphere, and a strong sense of local culture. The experience is made even more special with live performances, which add energy and authenticity to the evening without overwhelming the dining experience. Overall, it’s an excellent spot to enjoy great food, good wine, and a memorable cultural dinner in Bucharest"
"Definitely worth the hype! We made a booking as to not miss out but there were still some available tables for walk ins. We visited at lunch time and were met with an incredible quartet in the main area of the building. The decoration inside is stunning and a sight to be seen. The food was delicious. As we visited for lunch we wanted something smaller and the bean soup was perfect. A taste of Romania so beautifully prepared. So flavoursome and surprisingly filling. If you have this on your list of places to visit I would highly recommend!"
